Six Prisoners Were Executed in Three Iranian Towns

Iran Human Rights, January 9: Six prisoners have been executed in three different Iranian towns, reported the Iranian media.

According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, three prisoners were hanged in the prison of Qazvin (west of Tehran). The prisoners were convicted of drug related charges and the executions were carried out on Tuesday January 7, said the report. None of the prisoners were identified by name in the report.
On Tuesday 17. January, another prisoner was hanged in the prison of Gachsaran (western Iran), reported Aryanews. The prisoner who was identified as R. Sh., was charged with murder.
Two prisoners were hanged in the prison of Mashhad (northeastern Iran) on Tuesday 7. and Wednesday 8. January.  The news site “Mashhad Payam” reported that a 32 year old man identified as “H.” was hanged in the prison of Mashhad, convicted of a murder allegedely committed when he was 24 year old. The execution was carried out on January 8. Another man who also was convicted of murder, was hanged in the prison of Mashhad on Wednesday January 8, reported Khorasannews. This man was identified as “M.” and was 55 years old.

Two Ahwazi activists, Hadi Rashedi and Hashem Shabani, have been executed

Iran Human Rights, January 29, 2014: Hadi Rashedi and Hashem Shabani have been executed.

hashem-shabani-hadi-rashedi-300x236According to sources Iran Human Rights (IHR) has been in contact with the two Ahwazi Arab activists Hadi Rashedi and   Hashem Shabani have been executed. 
Iranian intelligence ministry offcials have informed the families of the prisoners that the executions were carried out four days ago. However, Ahwazi activists believe that Hadi Rashedi and Hashem Shabani were executed immediately after their transfer from the Karoun prison of Ahwaz.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) strongly condemns execution of Ahwazi Arab activists. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of IHR said: the leadership of the Iranian authorities must be held accountable for the unlawful executions of the Ahwazi Arab activists.  We once again urge the United Nations to send an independent fact finding mission to Iran to investigate these executions”.

BACKGROUND:
Hashem Shabani (32) and Hadi Rashedi (38) were sentenced to death for Moharebeh (“enmity against God”), Mufsid-fil-Arz (“corruption on earth”) and spreading propaganda against the system in July 2012 alongside three other political prisoners. All are founding members of Al-Hiwar, a cultural institute that promoted Arabic education, literature and cultural activities among deprived Ahwazi Arab youth.
Insisting on his innocence and demanding a retrial before an impartial court, Shabani has retracted the “confession” made following torture and has repeatedly repudiated violence. In a letter smuggled out of prison, Shabani wrote that he had written blogs and essays critical of the treatment of minorities in Iran, including “hideous crimes against Ahwazis
perpetrated by the Iranian authorities, particularly arbitrary and unjust executions. Through this reporting, I was defending the legitimate right that every nation in this world should have which is the right to live freely with full civil rights. With all these miseries and tragedies, I have never used a weapon to fight these atrocious crimes except the pen. ”
The death sentences against the men were met with condemnation by a group of five United Nations independent experts in January, who accused the Iranian authorities of torture and unfair trials.
The European Union subsequently imposed sanctions on judge Seyyed Mohammad Bagher Moussavi of Branch 2 of the Ahwaz Revolutionary Court who sentenced the men to death as well as the officials responsible for broadcasting the “confessions”, head of IRIB World Service and Press TV Muhammad Sarafraz and Press TV newsroom director Hamid Reza Emadi

One prisoner was Hanged in public in Qazvin (west of Tehran) today


ghazvin-2801-1Iran Human Rights, January 28, 2014: One prisoner was hanged in public in the city of Qazvin (west of Tehran) today Tuesday January 28, reported the official Iranian media.
Based on the official and unofficial reports Iran Human Rights (IHR) has collected, in the first 4 weeks of 2014 at least 61 people have been executed in Iran. Mahmodo Amiry-Moghaddam, the Spokesperson of IHR condemned today’s public execution in Qazvin and urged the international community to react to the wave of executions in Iran.
The man who was hanged publicly today was according to the prosecutor of Qazvin  identified as “H. Lotfi” (44 year old)  and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court, convicted of smuggling 8 kilograms of heroin.
Hundrerd of people, among them minors watched the public execution. Iran is the country with the highest number of public executions. Iran Human Rights has urged the United Nations to ban public executions.

One woman and two men hanged for drug related charges in Western Iran

Iran Human Rights, January 26, 2014: According to the Iranian news website Arshnews two men and one woman from the villages of Delfan (Lorestan Province, Western Iran) were executed during the last week.

Two of the individuals from the village of Golestaneh were identified as “R. H.” and “M. Sh.” and were convicted of trafficking 6 jilograms of heroin, said the report.
0_002According to this report another individual from the village of Abdolhosseini, was hanged in the town of Malayer convicted of trafficking 500 grams of the narcotic drug crystal.  The latter individual was not identified by name.

Two prisoners were hanged in North-Eastern Iran


Iran Human Rights, January 25: According to reports from Iran two prisoners have been executed in the prisons of Tabriz and Meshginshahr in the past week.
Meshginshahr:
According to the local news website of Aranmoghan, one man was hanged in the prison of Meshginshahr (Ardebil Province) on Friday January 17. The prisoner who was identified as “R.A.”, was convicted of murdering a girl identified as “M.Z.”, said the report. The man was a worker who because of poverty had previously sold one of his kidneys.  He was married and had one daughter, according to the report.
Tabriz:
According to reports from unofficial sources a young man identified as “Sajjad Pour-Najaf” (picture) was hanged in the prison of Tabriz on Monday January 21.  According to these reports Sajjad was born in February 1986 and had been imprisoned since 2008, charged with a murder that he allegedly had committed under self defense. since 2008.



Seven prisoners were hanged in Western Iran Today

Iran Human Rights, January 23: Seven prisoners were hanged in the prison of Kermanshah (western Iran) reported the Iranian state media.  Five of the prisoners were convicted of trafficking of 102 kilograms of various narcotic drugs and two were convicted of murder said the report.
None of the prisoners were identified by name.
According to the official and unofficial reports received by Iran Human Rights near 50 people have been executed in different Iranian cities since the beginning of 2014. In an officialstatement published yesterday January 22, three UN right experts urged the Iranian authorities to halt the executions.

Six Prisoners Were Hanged For Drug Related Charges in Iran

Iran Human Rights, January 15: Six prisoners were hanged in two different Iranian prisons early this morning January 15.

The state run Iranian news agency Fars reported  about execution of five prisoners in the prison of Shahroud (northern Iran).  these prisoners were identified as M. Y (40 year old) charged with possession and trafficking of 980 grams of crack and heroin; Gh. M. (27 year old) for possession and trafficking of 1993 grams of crack; Gh. R. (42 year old) for possession and trafficking of 1120 grams of crack; “A. N.” (21 year old) for possession of 2 kilograms of heroin and 2 kilograms of morphine;  and Gh. S. (56 year old) for possession and trafficking of 1818 grams of crack.
Another prisoner was hanged in the prison of Tabas (Central Iran) reported the Iranian state media today. the prisoner was identified as “Hassan S.”  and was charged with trafficking of 591,90 grams of heroin and morphine said the report.
Yesterday 18 people were hanged in different Iranian cities, seven of which were announced by the official Iranian sources. 

Seven Prisoners Hanged in Iran- One hanged in Public

Iran Human Rights, January 14: Seven prisoners were hanged in three different Iranian cities yesterday 14. January, reported the Iranian state media.

According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, five prisoners were hanged in the Adelabad prison of Shiraz Tuesday 14. January 2014.  The prisoners who were not identified by name were convicted of possession and “armed” trafficking of 59 kilograms of opium, said the report.
Iranian state media also reported about execution of another prisoner in the prison of Ardebil (northwestern Iran). Quoting the public relation office of the Judiciary in Ardebil, Tasnim news agency reported that the prisoner wasconvicted of selling 17 kilograms of heroin.  The execution took place in the central prison of Ardebil Tuesday January 14. The prisoner was not identified by name.
Also yesterday, one man was hanged in public in Saveh (southwest of Tehran), reported the state run Iranian news agency ISNA. The man who was identified as “Mehrdad A.” (40 year old) originally from Kermanshah province (western Iran), was convicted of murdering two people with a “Kalashnikov rifle” in 2010 in Saveh. He was sentenced to “twice retribution”  in public, and his death sentence was carried out publicly (picture) in Hedayat area of Saveh.

11 Prisoners Executed in Rajaishahr Prison

Iran Human Rights, January 14: According to reliable sources in Iran 11 prisoners were hanged in the Rajaishahr prison of Karaj (west of Tehran) today.

Seven of the prisoners were from the sections 3, 2 and 6 of Rajaishahr prison and four were transferred from Gehzelhesar prison for execution.
Some of the prisoners are identified as  Reza Inanloo, Khalil Moradi, Mokhtar Babadi (all three from section 6 of Rajaishahr), and Fariborz Moradi and Ebad Mohamadi (both from section 2 of Rajaishahr) .
The prisoners were reportedly charged with murder.
None of these executions were announced by the official Iranian sources.

Iran Human Rights, January 12: Three prisoners were hanged in two different Iranian prisons, reported the Iranian state media.

According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, a 45 year old prisoner was hanged in the prison of Yasouj (western Iran). The prisoner who was not identified by name was from Zabol (Sistan-Baluchistan Province) and convicted of trafficking 60 kilograms of crack, said the report.
According to Tasnimnews two prisoners convicted of murder were hanged in the prison of Sari (northern Iran) Sunday January 11. One of the prisoners  identified as “H. R.” (38 year old) was convicted of murdering a man identified as “R. S.”. The Other prisoner identified as “M. N.” (41 year old) was convicted of murdering five others under a “constructed” traffic accident. However, Bloghnews reported that the prisoner was 35 year old and convicted of murder  for killing four people under a traffic accident 10 years ago.
